The summer heatwave has pushed Welsh NHS waiting lists up for a third consecutive month and driven emergency departments to record attendance, new performance data shows. NHS probes Welsh Gender Service over high referral rates NHS Wales is investigating the Welsh Gender Service (WGS) after revelations it refers three to four times the per-head number of people for irreversible gender-related surgery than the UK average. Marcus Staniforth, 18, had received 17 years; a 16-year-old, unnamed for legal reasons, received 15 years. Tinder conman who stole thousands pretended to be multi-millionaire cancer patient Joseph Gibson, 35, of Ruthin, Denbighshire, has been jailed for three years and two months at Bristol Crown Court for four counts of fraud by false representation, taking almost £68,000 from four victims — two of whom he met on Tinder and one he convinced he was in a relationship with. He claimed to be special forces, worth hundreds of millions, with homes in Sandbanks, Bath, Dubai, Singapore and Mayfair: "I am trading a five million account on my phone from a hospital bed", and "In January I was valued at 440m if you need me". One victim lost £21,000, another £18,000 net, and a retired super-yacht captain invested £23,350. Polluted River Tywi could end 300 years of coracle fishing Coracle fishers on the River Tywi say pollution has left "no fish" in the river, threatening a tradition dating back 300 years. Fifth-generation fisherman Keith Elias, whose family has fished the river for 300 years, caught just one fish in the May–July season; Carmarthen Coracle and Netsman Association chairman Andrew Davies, 63, said four coracle men caught 12 fish between them all season — "you'd catch that many in a night" years ago — calling it "a season as bad as this… there's no life in the river".
