 Historic proponent. As SNP leader, Salmond co-signed the "Celtic Alliance" agreement with Plaid Cymru's Ieuan Wyn Jones in March 2010 — agreeing SNP and Plaid Cymru would cooperate to maximise influence in the event of a hung parliament after the 2010 general election. 
 Since leaving the SNP and founding the Alba Party , Salmond has continued to advocate for closer relations between the Celtic nations, though Alba's focus has been primarily on Scottish independence.
