Celtic Alliance Position
Most prominent advocate. Adam Price is arguably the most significant figure to have called for a formal Celtic Union. In January 2019, while Plaid Cymru leader, he proposed:
- A Celtic Development Bank to finance infrastructure projects across Celtic nations
- A formal Celtic Union structured using the Good Friday Agreement framework
- Enhanced economic and political integration between Ireland, Scotland, and Wales
His proposal was covered by RTÉ, The National, and international media. He argued that Celtic nations share common interests in social democracy, EU orientation, and countering Westminster centralisation.
